Grilled could have finally crowned themselves with the S-League title, as for the first time it was theirs to lose after leading for much of the season - and they did.

As a silver lining, there were many positives to be taken as they broke their S-League points record for the second successive season, saw Rotteveel break out by casting off Martinsson's considerable shadow and establishing himself as a forward to be feared, and boast both the strongest attack and the meanest defence in the league.

They began the season under a cloud though, as they made their biggest change in many a season; The seemingly irreplaceable goalkeeper Ahmed Abed-Sulaiman was finally gone, together with the hapless Beckman. Fans looked to the dark days of Clair Harlow's howlers, as they contemplated another disaster. Coach Liehner didn't skint as he spashed out $8.6 million on the 23 year-old Brazillian ex-U20 international Valdir Dias Paes, who did the unthinkable right from the start as he surpassed Sulaiman's ego, a feat previously thought impossible.

Dias Paes was promptly humbled by Rollin's Juho Hiekka, who hit three past him on his debut, but he recovered quickly with the confidence of youth, and Grilled went on a very impressive twelve match winning streak in all competitions, a praiseworthy feat at the top level. This was broken when Thorocozzieq FC dumped Grilled out of the Cup after Jie Siong was sent off, but this was almost a relief as Grilled were then sitting pretty at the top of the table, and could do without distractions.

Sadly it was not to be, as Rotteveel was sent off after he helped Grilled establish a possibly title-winning lead against direct rivals Rollin', and with him suspended for the final game, his partner Subri was too red carded in the crucial final quarter of an hour against Chemistry, for Grilled to complete their cursed trifecta of dismissals.
